Thanks to their sterling efforts they prevented my home from flooding for the fourth time. I know that mine is not the only home and my heart goes out to those who did flood. I know the devastation it can cause.
I would also like to thank Mr John Mills of Lydney Golf Club for lending us their water pump. This was a godsend when Lydney fire brigade were called away as it meant we were able to carry on pumping water and sewage away from our homes well into the evening.
I have to add that I am disappointed in the local council who knew we were in trouble but failed to bring us any sand bags and made only a brief visit to us.
We had a visit from Severn Trent who told us the pumping station could not cope with bad weather and the amount of new homes built in the area.
I think Lydney council need to take a good look at the situation, as it is obvious that storm water is getting into the sewage system and the problems with the drainage system in Lydney need addressing as soon as possible.
Is it not time we dredged Lydney canal to see if this alleviates the problem?
