MOTOR sports fans were all revved up as 40 cars were put through their paces at a spring autosolo event in Mitcheldean.

Ross and District Motor Sports Club hosted the Sunday, March 19 event, which saw drivers undertake three runs of eight tests at Vantage Business Park.

The sport of autosoloing involves a series of tests, generally around traffic cones to measure precision skills, such as stopping with the front and rear wheels straddling a line.

The entrants were split into two categories, 18 in National B and 22 in the Clubmans class, an excellent turnout and a big turnaround from two years ago when clubs had to cancel some events due to lack of interest.

National B requires an MSA competition license, with competitors competing for the Cotswold, Welsh and British Trials and Rally Drivers Association championships, while the clubman event is for club members and doesn’t require a competition license.

Jim Bryant in his Mazda MX5 took the National B honours, with class B winner John Fox in his Renault Clio followed by Class D winner Ade Welsh in his shared Mazda MX5, and brother Rich Welsh coming second.

Clubmans winner was Ollie Jenkins in his Mazda MX5, with Sam Wright first in class B in his Honda Civic. Second in class B was Tom Baker in his Suzuki

Ingnis followed by James Martin in his Ford Escort.

Class D was won by Graham Spencer in his Mazda MX5 followed by Daniel Walters, also in a Mazda MX5, while Ross & District winner was Andrew Bridgewater in his VW Polo.

And drivers will be in action again this Saturday, April 1, at Ross livestock centre in a national autotest, starting at 12.30pm.

If you fancy getting involved in the sport, pop along to the clubhouse on Kyrle Street on Thursday nights from 8pm to talk to club members or see www.rossmotorsports.co.uk
