"extraordinary" responseThe neighbourhood policing team has put up notices outside Chepstow Athletic Club warning drivers not to park inconsiderately.
There has been a problem for many years with cars parking on the bend forcing traffic travelling in the direction of Mathern to go onto the wrong side of the road.
The notice says the police are taking action after complaints from residents living nearby.
One resident, who did not want to be named, said: "There's been a problem with parking here for a long time and it's about time something was done about it.
"Hopefully a few tickets will persuade people to park in a more suitable place."
