CHILDREN at English Bicknor C of E Primary have had their culture classes brought to life as they learn about India.

As part of their class project, pupils in years 4, 5 and 6 have been studying India and its culture and religious beliefs.

Head teacher David Phillips, said: "It has been wonderful for the children to be proactive in their learning and open their eyes to the wonders and differences of this great continent.

"They have got involved cooking, visiting a hindu temple and have had a masterclass in how to wear saris and perform indian dancing. We had our special guest, Daxa Mehta come along and talk at length about many aspects of being a hindu which was absolutely fascinating.

"Prior to Daxa visiting, the children had been practising a Bollywood-style dance which was later performed at Lakers School where other forest schools were also involved."

Class teacher, Mrs Alliston added: "It has been a fantastic experience which the children will remember for a long time."
