I WOULD like to thank those people in Lydney West who voted for me in the recent elections when I stood as a candidate for TUSC (Trade Unionists and Socialists against the Cuts.)

I would also like to mention the people who helped with the campaign.

Though I didn't win, I attained approx 22 per cent (over 1 in 5 of all those who voted) it was a low poll with only around 9 per cent of the people eligible to vote, doing so.

This confirms that many people are clearly disillusioned and feel betrayed by all three main parties and do not know in whom to put their trust.

However we were encouraged by the support we received on the streets and those offering to help us.

TUSC is a relatively new party, backed by the RMT union and supported by various leading trade unionists and left groups.

Despite a disappointing result, we do not feel defeated or dispirited and will continue to fight the cuts and privatisations and campaign to build a new mass party that represents the millions and not the millionaires.
