MORE than 40 people across the Forest have taken to Facebook expressing what they wish to go into the former Beales Department Store in Cinderford.

Since the closure of the store in July the building remains empty as its owners, Midcounties Co-op, wait for a new tenant to move in.

Some of the suggestions from residents include a Wetherspoons, Woolworths, clothes shop or a soft play centre for children, while one user said: "Anything but a takeaway, hairdressers, building society, pound shop or bakery."

At present no prospective tenants have come forward to reopen the store and it is unknown what type of business the owners are looking to bring to the town.

A spokesman for The Midcounties Co-op said: "We are hopeful a new tenant can be found and will be actively promoting the site now that it has been vacated. It is a prominent building in Cinderford, in a key location in the High Street and has much to offer a new occupier."
