I'M very worried about the council's attitude to wind turbines. We know that we're soon going to be short of electricity and that building huge new power stations will take years.

So the answer, surely, is for as many small generators to be built as possible – wind, solar and water-powered.

These can go up quickly and be available in time to "mind the gap" - in the right place they look great. It's an opportunity for the Forest's legendary engineering skills to shine.

And as for the idea that it might discourage tourists from visiting the Forest? Well, it doesn't seem to have had that effect in Cornwall, Wales or the Lake District.

Just another silly scare story.
