ROMANS and Victorians were among those who strutted their stuff on a Forest school’s catwalk.

Pupils at Newnham St Peter’s Church of England Primary School came up with the idea of a fashion to demonstrate what they have learnt this term.

Reception’s theme was All About Us, Years One and Two did the Victorians, Years Three and Four the Romans and the top two years the Vikings and Mayans.

The children dressed up and showed off their costumes and explained what they had learnt to parents at the show.

They also cooked food based on the historical period they had been studying such as Victorian gingerbread, sweet potato, sweetcorn and tomato tortilla for the Mayans of Central America and sourdough bread for the Vikings.

Headteacher Claire Cook said: “The end-of-term show is part of our challenge curriculum.

“The children think about what the challenge is going to be. This term it was to put on an historical fashion show.

“They each study their own topic but they all come together to do the same challenge at the end.

“The children have worked very hard and they have been supported by their parents.”
