A MAN has died after his car was involved in a collision with a van on a notorious stretch of the A48.
The collision between a blue Subaru Impreza and a white Mercedes Sprinter van took place at about 3.15am on November 3 at Minsterworth near the Severn Bore Pub.
Inspector Les Pritchard from Gloucestershire Police Control Room said: 'The Subaru set on fire after impact with the driver still inside. The driver of this vehicle, who has not been formally identified, is deceased.'
The driver of the van who was also trapped with a fractured leg was taken to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The A48 was closed between the A4151 Elton Corner and A40 junction at Highnam while collision investigations took place.
