A BUILDER who died in a workplace incident four weeks ago has been named as a father-of-three.

Shane Goode, 56, from Caerwent was a popular figure in the Caldicot area, and attended Chepstow School as a youngster.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said officers and members of the Welsh Ambulance Service attended a property in Caerleon Road, Llanfrechfa, on Friday, September 27, at around 11.30am, after a man was seriously injured.

“He had been carrying out building work on the property when he received a serious head injury,” they added.

“The man was treated by the ambulance service, but was later pronounced dead at the scene.

“He can now been named as Shane Phillip Goode, aged 56, of Caerwent.”

In a tribute, his family said: “Shane was a well-loved character within the community who will be sadly missed by all.”

A joint investigation between Gwent Police and Health and Safety Executive is ongoing.

An obituary notice in this week’s Review, says Mr Goode was the “adored son of Pauline, much-loved Father of Natasha, Daniel and Adam, and loved brother of Paul, Sharon and Julie.”

It adds that he was: “Loved by all his family and his friends.”

A service of celebration of his life will take place at Langstone Vale Crematorium at 11.30am on Wednesday, November 13.

Those attending can “wear rugby tops and colours” if they wish.

The family has requested family flowers only, with donations in lieu if desired to the MIND mental health charity, which may be placed in the collection box at the service.

Many posted condolences on his daughter’s Facebook page, remembering a “lovely guy who would do anything for anyone.”

One said: “We were lucky to have him in our lives,” and another had “wonderful memories of him.”

Another added: “What a wonderful character Caldicot have lost.”
