A FORESTER who lives in China a stone’s throw away from the source of the deadly Coronavirus outbreak says he is dreading his pregnant wife having to return there to give birth.

Software developer Jed Jones from Lydney and Chinese wife Liu Pan were evacuated to the UK from Wuhan on February 10, but may have to return as she doesn’t qualify for free NHS maternity care.

He says they could face a medical bill of anything from £4,000 up to £12,300.

The couple, who married five years ago and live under a mile from the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market spent two weeks in quarantine in Milton Keynes, and were released on Sunday (February 23).

But because she only has a six-month visitor visa, she cannot get free treatment, which Jed, who says he works for UK firms and pays taxes here, calls ‘unfair’.
