HARDWORKING firefighters were given a festive boost last week as they received a seasonal delivery to see them through their Christmas shifts.

The donation of snacks and drinks was taken to Chepstow Fire Station on Tuesday, December 11, by members of Chepstow and District Round Table.

Branch chairman Simon Hicks said: “We decided to deliver some festive cheer to the staff at the fire station, so 10 of our members dashed around the supermarket and filled two trolleys with food for the hardworking firefighters.

“We then surprised them with the donation during their Tuesday evening training exercise. We have been doing this event for the past couple of years. It is a great experience for the guys and a nice way to say thank you to the service that the firemen give to their community.”

“When we popped in, we were given a station tour and had the chance to sit in the fire engine. Some of the guys had a great laugh trying on the helmets and flipping on the sirens and lights.

“Round Table members give their time freely to raise money all year through events such as the Chepstow Community Fireworks and Santa’s Sleigh. This is just one of the ways in which we can give back to the community. We are always looking for new members, so if anyone fancies coming along then just get in touch.”
