Teacher Carol Knight of Lydney C of E School and teaching assistant Ann Tomkins of St Peter's C of E Primary School, Newnham-on-Severn, will attend an awards ceremony in Bath on Wednesday, June 26.
Carol will learn if her nomination for the BT Award for Teacher of the Year in a Primary School has been successful, while Ann is in line for the award for Teaching Assistant of the Year.
BT says the nominees for the awards are the West's most outstanding teachers or teaching assistants.
"The awards, in partnership with BT, celebrate the vital role that teachers play in the community and aim to highlight excellence and encourage best practice by honouring teachers and teaching assistants," said a spokesman.
The West's awards are one of 12 ceremonies taking place across England, Wales and Northern Ireland during June and July.
Each regional winner will be awarded a prize package worth £3,000 for their school, including a £2,000 'best practice' cash grant and £1,000 worth of the latest ICT equipment. Those who receive a commendation will take a cheque for £250 back to their school.
The winners from the regional events will be invited to attend the 2002 Teaching Awards Ceremony at the Theatre Royal, London, later in the year. Here national winners will receive a further 'best practice' cash grant of £13,000 and a prize package including an interactive whiteboard which will bring the total award value to £25,000.
