A TAE-KWONDO instructor is celebrating after not one, but five of her students earned black belts recently, with four of them from the same family.
David Fisher, Vanessa Hull, 11-year-old Eve Fisher-Hull and her sister Rosa Fisher, aged eight, joined Paula’s class four years ago.
Thirteen-year-old Isobelle Jones has also been training with Paula for four years.
Paula Webb, fourth Dan instructor at Blakeney Tae Kwon-Do, started the club over five years ago.
She told the Review: “I have 30 students ranging from white belts to my new first Dan black belts.
“Ages range between five and 45, although you’re never too old to take up Tae Kwon-Do.
“It was my dream to get a student from white belt to black belt, so to get five black belts in one go is just amazing.
“Isobelle, who lives in Blakeney, has taken part in competitions since she started and has won many titles.
“This year she has taken the English championship title for sparring. She is also the current junior world champion for the power strike event.
“The Fisher-Hulls had recently moved to the area from Kent when they joined my club.
“All of them train three times a week with me and enjoy being able to train and take part as a family,” she said.
“They all compete at local and national competitions like Isobelle does and all have won a good number of medals.
“Vanessa won silver at the world championships last year, which is a huge achievement..
“To earn a black belt takes a lot of hard work, perseverance, sweat and the odd bruise here and there, but to be able to train someone else to black belt standard was a challenge I gave myself. As much as I am proud of my students, I’m a little bit proud of myself too.”
