A FLORAL display designed to brighten up the approach to Lydney was vandalised last week.

Lydney Town Council has been working with a local building supplies company on the displays, which have been created beneath the “Welcome to Lydney” signs on the approach to the town.

Cllr Carol Harris, chair of the amenities committee, said: “Overnight on May 3 a planted trough at the Cross Hands approach was ripped off the sign and plants were stolen from the display.

“This attempt to hamper our improvement efforts is disheartening, but we will not be deterred. The positive feedback which we have received to date from residents has shown that the work is appreciated and our efforts to further enhance the appearance of our town will continue.”

Anyone with information about the vandalism is urged to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident 100 of May 4.
