IT'S A MYSTERY ... these charming pictures arrived at the Review offices clearly promoting the Forest of Dean and bearing the Coleford tourism office telephone number.
There are also clues in the caption accompanying the pictures which point to the Forest, as well as digs at the fact that recent tourism promotions have totally ignored the area – even though many of its attractions are open.
Call the number though, and nobody at the tourist information office has an idea who sent the pictures out ... or why, although they clearly have the interests of the Forest at heart.
"You can walk in a haze of blue and a blaze of scent through these enchanting spring glades and discover mile on mile of delight with change and charm at every turn ... but where is it?" the caption states.
"You won't find it in tourist information – strange but true. It is huge enough for hundreds to get lost in, just melt away, yet it is so well hidden it doesn't have a mention in recent tourist maps you might have seen of West country 'must see' sights.
"Well, after all, it has been a well-kept secret for thousands of years, perhaps as long as time itself, an ancient patch, a step aside from a world where nobody believes in mysteries any more..."
It goes on to say visitors will be treated to a "Royal" time.
"We have absolutely no idea where it has come from," said Sarah Imiolczyk of the Coleford information office.
"But people can't use Forest paths, and the bluebells are over nearly everywhere."
