TRIBUTES have been paid to two Forest people who lost their lives in two separate car collisions within a day of one another.

The first incident happened last Thursday when a Ford Transit minibus overturned on Forest Road, Lydney while being driven by a 56-year-old local man.

Patrick Mulligan from Ash Close, was travelling towards Lydney at 3.30pm when his Ford transit minibus turned over and rolled onto its side. When ambulance crew arrived he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger in the minibus, who was also a 56-year-old man, suffered minor injuries. All three emergency services were at the scene and the road remained closed until 8.30pm while officers carried out their investigation. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

On Friday evening at 9.15pm a 19-year-old woman died after the car she was travelling in came off the road and crashed into the wall near the war memorial in Longhope.

The South Western Ambulance Service said that when paramedics arrived, the car was on fire.

The 19-year-old male driver from Coleford was driving a silver Vauxhall Corsa. He was seriously injured in the crash and taken by ambulance to Frenchay Hospital. But Leanne Davies from Worrall Hill died at the scene.

Police officers said the car was travelling from Longhope towards Huntley when it left the road at around 9.15pm.

Police are now appealing to the public for information and for any witnesses to both collisions, to call 101 quoting incident number 240 of May 30 and 531 of May 31 (Longhope incident).
