I AM enquiring if any of your readers can help me with my family history and whether there could be relatives of the Simmonds family in or around the Lydney area.

My great grandfather's name was Samuel Simmonds, born 1844, died 1918; he married Mary Ann?Fisher on November 8, 1863. She was born in 1844 and died in 1892.

They had seven children, of whom my grandfather, Thomas, was fifth.

Thomas was born in 1873 and married Catherine/Kate Barber from?St Briavels in November 1892.

Thomas died in November 1895 and my father, Albert John Simmonds, was born March 1896.
