VOLUNTEERS from the Foresters’ Forest programme were treated to a day out as a ’thank you’ for their work on the Heritage Lottery funded programme.
Members enjoyed a day at Go-Ape where they went on segways at Mallards Pike.
The free sessions were part of a celebratory event hosted by the Verderers which included a hog roast and music provided by The Hickory Stick Boys.
About 250 Foresters’ Forest volunteers have given up their time over the last 18 months to help develop the 40 projects on natural, built and cultural heritage. All of the hours add up to about £160,000 worth of time which is a crucial part of the stage two bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for another £2.5m which, hopefully, will be coming to the Forest in 2017.
