BROADWELL were in fighting form for the last game of the season finishing with a 5-1 victory against Cam.

Secretary Les Lewis said: "We needed to score four clear goals to secure our fourth position in the league."

And they pulled it off with panache, with two first half goals from Craig Lewis and a superb hat trick from Matthew Foxwell in the second half.

A volley from outside the area to secure Foxwell's second goal impressed the crowd of over 100 spectators.

Lewis said: "We have a good team with well-established players, but a hat trick is certainly not something that happens every match!

"Considering we had possession for most of the match, Cam played well and kept trying to play football. They scored a bit of a consolation goal in the second half."

There was good news too for Broadwell seconds who narrowly avoided relegation to remain in the Premier Division of the North Gloucestershire League.

"We have one of the best pitches in the county and it is nicely kept by groundsman Paul Ellis," added Lewis.

He says new changing rooms could be on the cards in the next few years if the club can secure funding.

Building the new facilities would allow Broadwell to move up a league, and with an end of season fourth place, this is something they cannot afford to discount.
