THE Forest of Dean District Council showed its support for the Armed Forces by working with 1Rifles on a community day at Go Ape.
The event was the first to be run in support of the Armed Forces Community Covenant signed earlier this year between the Gloucestershire public sector and the Armed Forces.
Volunteers who give up their time to help the community were invited to take part in the tree top adventure alongside soldiers from the Beachley-based battalion.
The voluntary groups included the Youth Workers' Network and sports groups across the Forest.
Forest of Dean District Council leader Cllr Patrick Molyneux said: "The council recently had the honour of signing the Gloucestershire Armed Forces Community Covenant to pledge our support for local servicemen and women in our district and across Gloucestershire.
"We are extremely grateful to all those involved in the services, and their families, for their commitment and for their sacrifice."
