A MAGNIFICENT £3,400 boost to a fund which fights the blood disease leukaemia has been made in memory of a Ross teacher who taught in Cinderford.
Sally Ball, 42, taught for ten years at St White's in Cinderford before falling victim to the disease.
Her husband Mike was so appreciative of the help she was given he asked for donations to the Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC) of Cheltenham General Hospital in lieu of flowers.
Other fundraising events included a concert by John Rowland's band in the Forest, and more donations came from the Forest Musical Theatre Society and the Ross Operatic Society, in which both Sally and Mike were active.
At a presentation at the hospital Mike, who lived at Upper Lydbrook before the couple moved to Ross, handed over the cash to Dr Bob Dalton and Dr Gill Rouse of LINC.
Dr Dalton said the unit was "very grateful" for the donations. He added that LINC had recently been able to acquire a state-of-the-art blood analyser which would save outpatients a long wait for blood test results.
He said LINC has several other projects which need funding to cope with the huge expansion of chemotherapy outpatient treatment in recent years.
Anyone who wishes to help with fundraising or make a donation can contact Dr Rouse on 01242 274422.
