TWO youngsters have risen to the challenge of saving wildlife by organising a bake off and cake sale.

Jessica Humphreys and Maddalena Pavia, both aged nine, from St Mary’s Primary School in Chepstow will be holding a Bake Sale from 1.30pm-3.30pm this Saturday, December 14, near the archway in the town centre in aid of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

The duo have been studying endangered species in their class and were so concerned about animals becoming extinct they decided to do something about it.

Over the past couple of weeks, the girls have been busy writing letters to local organisations asking for support, and baking lots of cakes, ready for their Bake Sale next Saturday in aid of WWF.

“We can’t believe there are so many animals that might become extinct – snow leopards, pandas, orangutans – we wanted to try and help them so we asked for a fundraising pack from WWF and as Maddie and I both like making cakes, we decided to do a bake sale,” said Jessica.

Maddie added: “So many people have helped us – we would like to thank Chepstow Town Council, Tesco Chepstow, Waitrose Caldicot, local cake makers Chlojo cupcakes and my nan, who has been baking mince pies for us to sell.”
