A COMMUNITY group has been given the official go-ahead to take over Newent's youth centre.

The Newent Initiative Trust intends to provide a facility for a wide variety of users, including continuing to deliver youth activities from the community centre.

The go-ahead means the county council will progress the Trust's business case, it will receive a £5,000 grant and will be granted temporary tenancy of the buildings until longer terms leases are formally completed.
