LYDNEY could have a new pizza takeaway if planners give the thumbs up.

Domino’s Pizza, which is an international pizza delivery company, plans to occupy the former Post Office in Newerne Street.

If passed a spokesperson for Domino’s Pizza said it will create 20 jobs for the area.

Abbey Everett, at Domino’s Pizza Group, said: "We are very hopeful that our application will be approved within the coming weeks, and if so we will be looking to recruit from within the area, with 20 new jobs available for pizza-passionate locals."

A spokesperson for the District Council added: "It is hoped that a decision will be made in early March. It is noted that the Town Council and Gloucestershire County Highways have responded and raised no objections."
