WORK can start on a project at the Orchard Trust in Lydbrook – thanks to two grants totalling almost £30,000.
The Stowfield Accessibility Project will improve the access throughout the site for people with physical disabilities by creating and rebuilding pathways, building viewing platforms and installing new fences.
The successful project bid of £21,500 from The Gloucestershire Environmental Trust was for Orchard Trust smallholding and day services centre.
Meanwhile a Tesco Bags of Help campaign has generated £8,000 which involved customers choo-
sing which group they’d like to get the top award using a token given to them at the check-out in store.
Chief Executive of the Orchard Trust, Gareth Jones said: “Our unique rural environment provides the perfect setting for people with disabilities to develop land-based skills including animal husbandry and woodland management.”
