YOUNGSTERS at a gymnastics club have had a busy time, with medals at the national tumbling championships and five performances of their Christmas show.

Competing for the first time In the nine-years Foundation Level, gymnasts from the Kestel club in Bulwark travelled to Haverfordwest for the Welsh Tumbling Championships

Robin Kedward won gold to take the Welsh title, while Brereton Trim won silver. 

Kestrel Club coach Shirley Lazere-Bennett said: “They did extremely well in this their first National Tumbling Championships, performing three different tumbles of six moves.”

In the NDP Level 2 class, 13-year-old James Davies placed third to win bronze, while Maisie Edwards qualifying in the top eight in NDP Level 3, went on to the finals to be ranked fifth in Wales.  

Meanwhile, squad and recreational gymnasts from as young as two years old performed their Christmas show over three days.

“They gave great routines to music entertaining large audiences, with squad gymnasts also performing The Nutcracker in beautiful costumes,” said Shirley. 

“It was a fantastic end to the competition year, and a great way to start the Christmas season.

“Everyone had a fantastic time performing to packed audiences over three days,” she added.-
