A SHAVE and wax at Cinderford Miners' Hall raised more than £2,000 for Cancer Research.
Jessica Hogarth sacrificed her locks while Thomas Friend braved the pain barrier by having his legs waxed.
Young mum Jessica is a member of The Winged Wonders, the Cinderford and District Relay for Life team and decided to go the extra mile for the charity.
Between them, Jessica and Tom raised more than £1,000 and a raffle on the night doubled the figure.
Jessica's hair was prepared by a stylist from the Exodus salon and well-wishers paid to cut it off in bunches.
Her head was then shaved by Lynne Harris of Exodus while Anja Davies of Addictive Tattooing got busy with the waxing strips on Tom.
Jessica later returned to Addictive Tattooing in Nailbridge to have a purple Cancer Research logo tattooed onto her head.
The event was also helped by Kevin Rhodes who provided the music for a karaoke and sang live as well as organising children's party games.
Jessica's mum, Tracy Guest, said: "It was a brilliant night and we'd like to thank everyone who supported it."
