BREAM apprentice Jessica Sayce, who works at Hair by Jones in Monmouth, has been chosen as one of only seven apprentices working in Wales to travel on a 15-day work placement to Spain.
Twenty-one year old Jessica, who left for Tarragona on Sunday, has been working for Hair by Jones for more than four years.
She said: “I’m shocked to be selected for the Spanish work placement because 20 apprentices applied for the seven places.
“It will be good to learn different techniques and to see the different hair types and textures. I am also looking forward to seeing what is on trend in Spain and if they are ahead of us.”
The placement was organised by Welsh independent hair and beauty training provider ISA Training with funding support from the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme for education, training, youth and sport.
Berni Tyler, ISA Training’s managing director, said: “The work placement is designed to show the apprentices the exciting career opportunities that exist in Spain and introduce them to the country’s culture.
“We want to enhance the learning experience and inspire our learners to realise that hairdressing and beauty therapy are professions that can grant them a passport to travel the world.”
Jessica will work in salons and attend workshops at the Schwarzkopf Academy, Barcelona and the Institute Cal Lipoid, the college partner for the visit.
