MONEY from a local golf society has helped Yorkley Health Centre purchase a new ECG machine.
Former captain of the Nomads Golf Society, who meet once a month to play at local golf courses, Darren Williams presented a cheque for £1,400 to Dr Andrew Edwards.
He said: “At the end of each year the captain collects all the money gathered from player ‘fines’ and chooses a charity or cause to support.
“This year I chose Yorkley Health Centre. Not only am I from around the area but I use the centre and knew they needed help to buy an ECG machine.
“The ‘fines’ could be anything from wearing the wrong uniform, using your mobile phone on the golf course or saying something silly.
“I wanted to give to a local cause to help local people. I hope, in the nicest possible way, nobody has to use the machine but if anybody needs to, then at least they can.”
The machine measures the ‘electrical’ activity all over the heart and determines if somebody is having a heart attack.
