A CHEPSTOW woman recently shortlisted for the Pride of Britain awards for her scheme to help homeless people has launched a Christmas appeal.

Claire Day founded Street Life Sarnies in South Wales and Bristol by coordinating volunteers to deliver food and essential supplies to them.

The Christmas appeal is asking people to put together shoeboxes containing biscuits, sweets, chocolate, body spray, fluffy socks, puzzles and tissues to be delivered to vulnerable people.

Claire said; “All gifts generously donated will be given to rough sleepers and the vulnerable, housed in hostels, refuges, outreach centres, emergency accommodation and night and day centres.”

The Review is pleased to act as a collection point for shoeboxes until the closing date of December 8. Boxes should be labelled as for a man or woman and can be wrapped but not sealed.

Other drop-off points locally are Chepstow Tesco, the Coach and Horses in Chepstow, the White Monk in Tintern, and Country Flowers in Caldicot.
