ARE you a relative of Tom Moses Davis?

Mr Davis was chairman of English Bicknor parish council, near Coleford, for just one year at the turn of the last century and now the present parish council is trying to track down his family to invite them to a very special occasion.

As part of the parish's millennium celebrations a plaque featuring the names of the chairmen of all the parish councils since 1895 is to be unveiled in the Village Hall on July 20.

"We have been successful in tracking down the families of all 10 previous chairmen with the exception of Mr Davis. I have spoken to as many people as possible including lots of old residents but so far we have drawn a blank," said present day chairman, Mrs Barbara Britton.

Mrs Britton has trawled through the council's old minute books hoping to pick up an address, but so far there has not been a single lead to follow.

"All we know is that Tom Moses Davis was a member of the council from 1897 until 1902 and chairman in 1901-02. It would be nice to complete the picture and invite members of his family to the unveiling ceremony," said Mrs Bitton.
