WHEN Claire Whatmore of Littledean saw the vivid pictures of last Tuesday's New York terror on her TV a cold chill ran down her spine.

A week earlier she had been right at the top of the tallest tower of the World Trade Centre with her husband Martin enjoying a honeymoon dream meal.

"I was very, very shaken. I still am," said Claire, who had gone to New York with Martin to celebrate what was their first weekend on their own since their wedding day.

"We ate in the Window on the World restaurant on the 105th floor of the World Trade Centre on Sunday. We had been up and down the towers a few times seeing the sights.

"We flew to Canada first where we had been visiting relatives so this was our first real long weekend on our own."

Claire, who works at Coleford Health centre and ambulance chief Martin were married on August 17. Both said they were saddened by the events – it was a place they had been extremely happy – and their sympathy went out to those involved.
