WELSH pony enthusiasts Justin Davis and partner Heidi Bennett are pleased as punch after bringing Horse of the Year honours home to Littledean from the NEC.

Their mare Parvadean Delight, bred by dad Jack Davis, scooped the Champion of Champions award after taking Supreme Champion awards at a series of county shows throughout the year.

It has meant a packed calendar for Justin and Heidi, who had to travel as far as the Royal Norfolk Show and the Royal Highland Show to qualify for the Birminghan event. In all they had to beat off 3,000 qualifiers.

"We're delighted, pleased as punch," said Justin, who runs a stables and kennels business with his partner at Littledean.

"Up in the show ring, with thousands of eyes on you as well as live on Sky TV, it can be quite nerve-wracking."

He and Heidi led Parvadean Delight round the showring with foal Brynseion Delectable to take the coveted Champion of Champions in-hand horse or pony award.
