FREE junior coarse fishing taster sessions are being organised by Redbrook Angling Club this Saturday, May 18, just outside Monmouth.
Club spokesman, Ian Childs, said: “Following the popularity and success of last year’s event and in the lead up to the long school holidays, we are again holding another set of free taster sessions for any juniors who may wish to take up coarse fishing on a local lake.
“The event is free as it has been sponsored by Redbrook Village Trust from funds raised at the Live on the Wye festival..
“It is being held at a local lake with all the equipment, bait and professional tuition provided free of charge for use, so participants only need to bring themselves along.
“The event will be run with qualified DBS-checked and insured coaches from the “Young Anglers Project”, so a rod licence or fishing permit is not required.
“The sessions are structured, so supervised tuition will be given in one and half hour slots at a time for a maximum of up to six participants at any one time, starting at 9am, but the spaces are limited and have to be booked in advance, with the club.”
Anyone who is interested can contact Ian Childs on 01600 712 558. Leave a message with a name and number if there is no answer, to be booked into an available time slot.
