SCHOOLS across the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley are celebrating outstanding GCSE successes.
Indeed, the reaction of Lakers School head teacher Mike Hughes was typical of many other heads when he paid tribute to the hard work of students and teachers.
"Pupils have worked hard with some outstanding individual performances," he said.
"When so many leave school after five years with a string of A-plusses and A-grades it is a tribute not only to their ability and application, but also to the hard work and expertise of their teachers.
"We are also delighted with those pupils who have worked incredibly hard to achieve seemingly less spectacular grades – these are the pupils who have made tremendous progress during their time at Lakers."
