SONGS by a Forest musician were praised in an international song writing competition.

Jim Mulliner entered two songs in the UK song writing contest which is judged by some of the leading names in the music industry.

Jim has been writing songs and poems for around 25 years and has taken part in open mic sessions at local pubs.

He selected two songs for the competition – in the pop and lyrics only category.

The song Sunny Days made it to the semi-final while Keep Your Distance was commended by the judges but narrowly missed out on progressing.

Jim said: “I write for the love of writing and it was a great opportunity to have songs listened to and looked at by top industry professionals.

“I strongly recommend anybody who writes to enter this international event.”
