A DAD from Lydney has raised £600 for child protection charity the NSPCC by hurling himself out of a plane at 10,000ft.
Wayne Preece, who is a support worker for QCare working across the Forest said: “I am a proud dad of two daughters, Scarlet and Delilah-Rose who are aged five and six.
“I care a lot about children so I decided to raise money for the NSPCC and to take part in a tandem skydive. I am quite nervous about flying, so it was going to be challenging, but I was determined to do it as children’s wellbeing is more important than my fear of flying.
“On the day I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. As we took off in the plane, I thought there was no turning back, but kept my thoughts on the reason why I was taking part in something that scared me.
“As I was getting ready to jump out I looked down and for some reason the fear started to disappear. When the in-
structor and I finally jumped out of the plane, all the fear was gone and I really enjoyed it. It was absolutely breathtaking and amazing. I would happily do it again.
“I would like to thank everyone for their donations, which will make a difference for the children who desperately need the love and support. We all managed to smash the target £600 and raise an additional £75 in gift aid for the NSPCC.”
