WHEN Stagecoach changed the 73 bus service from Gloucester to Newport, to Gloucester to Chepstow, the Chepstow/ Lydney section in turn became vulnerable.

I have for some years pointed this out at district and county council meetings and urged the pubic to "use it or lose it." My amateur survey of the service some months ago, between Chepstow and Lydney, indicated less than 100 people per day used this service, and I don't imagine Stagecoach figures show much difference.

It is essential that any change takes into account the difficulties to the residents of Tutshill/Sedbury to get to Gloucester, or indeed the difficulties of anyone in the parishes bordering the A48. Dial-a-Ride is not an option as there is a cost which would fall by those with bus passes who currently travel free.

I urge that those who have any interest at all in this change to contact the county council, their county councillor, or Stagecoach to make their views known.

We are told to use public transport instead of cars, then we lose our buses. – Roy Birch, parish district councillor, Tidenham.
