Coleford 2, Minsterworth 4

THE very last kick of the game settled Minsterworth's dominance at Coleford although the home side put the winners to the test through both halves.

"In fact it was a very even first half," said Terry Smith – but first goal honours went to Minsterworth. After 20 minutes Coleford came back with the equaliser and held on strongly, only to finish the half another goal down five minutes from the end.

"We made another strong showing and again put in an equaliser five minutes into the next half," said Smith, who adds that with young and rapidly improving players like Ian Callow and Asa Wassell in the line up, the club shows much promise.

Although Coleford again slipped back with a third goal from Minsterworth, they fought back strongly again.

"We missed a few good chances, and it was always on the cards we would equalise. But when a real chance came with a Coleford corner it was miskicked in the centre.

"Minsterworth came back in literally the last minutes of the game and their fourth goal was the last kick of the match."

Smith said Coleford was "well-placed" to stay up in the middle of the league. Minsterworth was towards the top but if Smith's players do as well as they did this weekend there was ample chance for revenge on the coming weekend when Coleford will take a lot of determination to Minsterworth.
