GLORIOUS sunshine brought people out to enjoy a day at Westbury Carnival and Show on Sunday.

This year’s theme, West-end-bury Musicals, saw people of all ages enter innovative floats and walking acts in the main parade, which passed through the village to the Parish Hall grounds.

This year’s first prize float winner was Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and first prize walkers were the Bright Horizons with their adaptation of Oliver. The carnival princess and prince were Darcey Terry-Lush and Morgan Donnelly respectively.

The main ring was packed with a variety of entertainers from cheerleaders, karate and gymnasts to a falconry display and children’s entertainment.

Committee member, Gemma Byrne said: “We couldn’t have asked for better weather, people flocked to the event and this in turn raised in the region of £7,000.

“The flower and produce show was just as popular where there were more than 200 entries – double on last year.

“We must thank everybody who helped and supported us to make the event a success.”
