A CLOSE family friend of little Logan Harding, who was knocked off his bike in Broadwell, has received a cheque for £1,000 on his behalf.
Staff at Lydney Tesco presented the cheque to Libby Foxwell, who launched a Facebook campaign asking for donations to cover travelling expenses to Bristol Royal Hospital for Children where Logan was in an induced coma.
The campaign 'Luck for Logan' has raised more than £6,000 since the eight-year-old's accident near his home in April.
Team leader, Stacy Proctor said: "When I spotted Logan's cause on Facebook it struck a chord with me as my daughter was in hospital with a fractured skull – fortunately she wasn't as poorly as Logan, but all the same I know how expensive travelling costs can be when trying to reach a loved one."
Staff at Tesco asked businesses in the town for items to auction or offer in a prize draw which raised £1,000.
Stacy added: "We were overwhelmed with generosity from the people in Lydney."
Logan was sent home three weeks ago with strict instructions not to bang his head.
Libby said: "Logan lives with his grandparents and is a typical boy who loves getting stuck in and playing rough with his friends. A tutor has been visiting him to help him catch up on school work and we hope to send him back to school in September. The money we have raised has helped his grandparents get to and from the hospital as well as pay for an iPad for Logan. I intend to donate the rest to the neurology ward where Logan was staying and to the South West Air Ambulance."
Logan said he has no hesitation about getting back on his bike. He said: "The sooner the better."
