CHEPSTOW Rugby Club welcomed the Prison Service’s team as part of the club’s 150th anniversary celebrations.

The Monmouthshire club was formed in 1869 and is the oldest rugby club in Wales.

Unfortunately, despite three second half tries, the result didn’t go Chepstow’s way with the visitors pipping them 29-25.

There are strong links between Chepstow and the visitors, with two of the men in black and white working for the service.

Most of Chepstow’s points came courtesy of the forwards and their powerful rolling maul.

Among Chepstow’s try scorers were Andrew Morris – who works and has played rugby for the prison service – who got two, Lee Kelley and Ryan Davies.

The visitors donated their match fees to breast cancer research.

Chepstow have been supporting the charity Shine, which supports people with spina bifida and hydrocephalous.

The anniversary season will close with a dinner at the end of the year, and the club is also hoping to have one more representative match to mark the milestone year at Western Avenue.
