LONGHOPE hosted its second family fun day and motor show.
The event was organised by Tash Beard and Lee Haines of Longhope Motor Services.
Lee says: “We think around 700 people attended and we raised £1,800 for Great Western Air Ambulance and for Scoo-B-Doo, which supports neonatal care at Gloucester Hospital.”
Plenty of modified and classic cars and motor bikes were on show from as far afield as Sussex and Scotland and there were stalls and activities for all the family.
Lee says: “It all started a couple of years ago when we invited a few people along as we unveiled a Land Rover we’d restored for a customer. We wanted to do it again and thought about moving the event to the recreation ground.
“There used to be a fete in the village, but that stopped a few years ago. Some of the former organisers got involved though, so we were able to include things like the tug of war that used to take place. Local businesses also supported us, donating raffle and auction prizes and we had music all afternoon.”
Lee has always had an interest in Land Rovers and said: “We invited people we know through the Company Vehicle Collection (CVC) Register who all look after many historically important Land Rovers. This year we unveiled a Range Rover from a scrap yard that we had restored. We were really pleased that the man who engineered and designed this particular model – the P38 – was there on the day to see it.”
