RENEWABLE energy company, Resilient Energy Great Dunkilns, which operates the wind turbine in St Briavels has made a donation of £3,000 from its Wind Turbine Community Fund to the Friends of Lydney Hospital.

Spokesperson for Great Dunklins, Anthony Cooke, said: “The wind turbine project was funded by private investors; shareholders who receive an annual return on their investment. In addition, the project donates four per cent of turnover to the St Briavels Wind Turbine Community Fund, expected to average £15,000 to £20,000 per annum for 25 years.

“These funds help to build community resilience and a total of £55,000 has been handed out in the last four years. People in the St Briavels area appreciate and regularly use Lydney Hospital and we are delighted to be able to make this donation towards the cost of the new X-ray suite.”

Anthony Midgley, chair of the Friends, said that work on installation of the X-ray suite at Lydney Hospital has now started and will take six weeks to complete.
