ONE hundred and fifty children with additional needs will be able to benefit from a £100,000 Lottery grant which has been secured by a town charity’s community centre.
The Bridges Centre in Monmouth won the award in the latest round of funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
The cash boost will allow the Overmonnow-based centre to deliver the ‘Quest Busters’ project with MAGIC (Monmouthshire All Ability Group for Inclusive Communities) over two years.
The project will provide activities for 150 children and teenagers aged eight to 14 within a safe space, letting them access positive, needs-led experiences in a supported community setting.
One hundred families will also benefit from training, and support.
Mark Walton, Brid- ges Centre director, said: “We are delighted that we are able to provide these activities for our young people in Monmouthshire.
“Being able to access meaningful activities and enable positive experiences for young people with additional needs cannot be underestimated.
“Our families will benefit greatly from this project and the accessibility of safe spaces for their children to grow and flourish will not only promote well-being, but also provide much needed respite for parent carers and sibling carers alike.
“The National Lottery Community Fund grant allows us to continue supporting these young people and the families across the county.”
The Bridges Centre was launched 35 years ago in Drybridge House, a Grade II-listed country house dating back more than 340 years to 1671.
