JUST recently the Lydney fishing club has removed its dam which diverts water into the lake.
This has exposed quite a significant amount of debris in the stretch of the river from the Lake House to Hams car park.
Last month the banks were cut and a small tree had the top branches cut.
These branches are now exposed, having been dumped into the then dammed river out of out sight – this is not the first occasion this has occurred.
I have taken a photo of this instance and another of debris that was showing above the dammed river level which has been there for months.
I understand the environment department is responsible for clearing and keeping the river tidy and this work is contracted out.
Is it then checked that it has been carried out correctly? How often is there a check on the state of the river?
My concern is that this situation contributes to flooding.
