Gloucestershire County Council has spent £120,000 on the renovation and is now renting the premises to the charity based Lydney Dial a Ride at a peppercorn rent. How much is this peppercorn rent?
So can anyone at Gloucestershire County Council tell me why, when the bus station still shows a cars prohibited sign, that the Dial a Ride drivers, staff and charity shop workers park free of charge on the site?
With car parking charges being a real bone of contention in Lydney why should the staff at Dial a Ride park free? Anyone who works in Lydney be it Co-op, charity shop workers, or anyone who works in the town have to pay to park and yet the operatives at Dial A Ride park free.
Why can't Dial a Ride liase with their neighbours Harry Tuffins to see if they could secure parking places on their carpark also for perhaps a 'peppercorn rent'.
What happened to the promised waiting room? The Dial a Ride charity shop has 2 or 3 chairs! Is this the promised waiting room? Not in my book!
My other question to Gloucestershire County Council is why were the toilet facilities also not refurbished at the same time? Surely this facility should have been included in the final figure.
The rear of the premises has an adequate area for refuse so why did I see today two large bins and numerous black bags of rubbish in front of the new Dial a Ride shop area? Surely there is provision at the rear for a skip bin area! If these bins are left at the front of the building does this in fact not lower the tone of this new facility.
We the public need to know is this indeed a bus station or a free car park for Dial a Ride operatives.
