MANY thanks to those of you who have returned my questionnaire, it is much appreciated.

Since becoming county councillor for St Christopher's Ward, Chepstow in May last year, I have had a series of meetings in the ward with Monmouth County Council officers covering key areas, the Town Manager, Tim MacDermott as well as David Davies our MP and Nick Ramsay our AM to make them aware of the issues within St Christopher's and to enlist their aid in addressing them and improving the welfare of the residents.

It is early days, but the news so far is:

• Cromwell Road, the lights are now connected and working.

• As a result of individual representations made to me, I am pleased that a number of home improvements have been made by Monmouthshire Housing Association.

• My request for new road signs, where they need replacing is now on the cards.

• The ward now seems to be much cleaner and some of the fly tipping issues have been addressed. Having said that, should anyone see it happening, please take the number and make of the vehicle and name, should it have one, and provide me with the information.

• Some of the anti social problems have been addressed thanks to the improved patrolling and vigilance of the Community Support Officers.

• With regard to the re surfacing of roads and pavements, I have had opportunity to make an input reference the ward's needs and I am pleased to say that work on Maple Avenue, Willo's Close, Ash Close, Orchard Avenue, Laburnum Way, Cedar Close, Sycamore, Redwood Close, Oak Close and Linden Close is at this time programmed to start in January 2009.

• The yellow lines have been reinstated in Bulwark and Middle Way.

• I am pleased that I have been able to resolve a number of issues specific to St Christopher's residents.

I recognise that I have a long way to go but I hope that you will feel that I have made a start. I promised all residents of St Christopher's Ward that I will listen to all your concerns and work to the best of my ability to represent you, thank you for putting your trust in me and providing me with the opportunity.

Finally, I wish you all a bright and prosperous New Year. – Stephanie Dovey, Town and County Councillor, St Christopher's Ward.
