A MAN died from his injuries after falling from Symonds Yat Rock this afternoon (Monday, March 5).

Rescue teams were called in a bid to reach the man at 12.45pm in response to concerns for his "welfare".

Fire crews helped paramedics from the Hazardous Area Response Teams (HART), reach the man but police later confirmed that he had died from his injuries.

The road leading to Symonds Yat was closed by police during the rescue operation.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 12.45pm today, March 5, emergency services were called to Symonds Yat in response to concerns for the welfare of a man.

"We can confirm the man has died at the location. At this time we have not formally identified the man but next of kin have been informed.

"Officers are investigating but are not treating the death as suspicious."
